Backpack Ministry– Each year many of the youth who enter our program come with the clothes on their back. We want to ensure that when they arrive at ABFS, they are welcomed with a large backpack filled with a welcome card of encouragement, school supplies, and a Bible. Our hope is that right away, they realize that ABFS is a warm and safe place where they will not only get their basic needs met, but will also be encouraged and prayed for throughout their stay.
Summer Garden Ministry- Each summer, volunteers help our students plant and maintain a vegetable garden. This ongoing project not only teaches new skills, but also promotes the value of healthy nutrition while having fun. Volunteers will be asked to help out for 1 hour a week to help maintain the garden.
After School Tutoring- Often times our students struggle at school for a number of reasons and are therefore behind in their academic journey. We believe that helping our students succeed in school is a huge part of their long-term success. This is an opportunity for volunteers to help our students with their daily homework requirements by giving them more individual attention than they are able to receive in a classroom.
Student Ministry-This ministry connects volunteers with a specific student at ABFS to help provide special needs, Christmas/birthday gifts, cards of encouragement, etc. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to become a pass partner for a student who may not have family in the area.
